What state to persue child support?

I want to avoid a consultation fee if possible, Can someone help me with this before I keep paying fee after fee... If I live in Georgia with my son and my childs father lives in Mississippi which state's lawyers would be better to persue him? Once I know this I can narrow my lawyer list....
